Ube French Toast with Milk Tea Condensed Milk Recipe

I love a delicious breakfast, and I’ll always try an ube flavored food when I see it on a menu.

My most recent ube endeavor this time around is an ube french toast recipe that I absolutely love! I tried this recipe out on my most recent camping trip to AutoCamp Joshua Tree (check out the blog post on that if you haven’t already!) and it was delicious! It’s a super simple recipe and was very easy to prep! I cooked this over a fire pit on my camping trip, but it’s just as easy (if not easier) to cook this over a stovetop.

The Ingredients

The french toast ingredients here are similar to any classic french toast recipe. We have the standard milk, eggs, and sugar for the mixture. Additionally, though, to make this an ube french toast, I added an ube extract for the ube flavor and some purple food coloring to enhance the color.

I pre-made the french toast batter before our trip so that we wouldn’t have to bring all of the individual ingredients with us. After mixing all the ingredients together, I packed them into jars, making them easy to store and transport.

I also made a milk tea condensed milk to use as a drizzle over the ube french toast instead of a basic syrup. This is inspired by a chef at my work who would make Hong Kong French Toast with a milk tea glaze sauce that was just so delicious. So I wanted to recreate that for my recipe here!

Cooking

For this french toast recipe, we cooked this over an open fire while we were camping! This was a fun experience! We used a cast iron skillet over a fire pit. Each side of the bread slice was cooked for a few minutes, so this was a pretty quick and easy recipe to cook.

The Results

This ube french toast came out delicious! I topped the french toast with some strawberries and blueberries and then drizzled the milk tea condensed milk on top. I really enjoyed the toasty and crispy outsides, and liked the strong ube flavor!

If you love ube too, I highly recommend trying out this recipe! And the milk tea condensed milk is something that I really enjoyed making that can be used for other dishes as well, or as a sweetener to drinks like coffee or tea!
